Biography/history Daughter of Frederick Slade Brockman and Grace Bussell; married Sir John Winthrop Hackett in 1905, Frank Moulden in 1918, and Basil Buller-Murphy in 1936. She supported many charities and was a noted financier and chair of a number of mining and pastoral companies. During the late 1930s, she researched the language, customs and legends of the Dordenup tribe with a view to producing a book which, because of her other commitments, was never completed. Dordenup (or Wardandi) was a Nyungar language spoken from Bunbury to Cape Leeuwin, chiefly along the coast, at Geographe Bay, Nannup and Busselton.
Summary Personal papers (1936-1955), including letters from her son Sir John Hackett (1954-1955); company papers of Tantalum Ltd., Northwest Tantalum N.L. and Minilya Pastoral Company (1953-1955); notebooks of A.J. Bussell concerning South-West Aboriginal peoples and their dialect; correspondence and notes concerning proposed publications on Aboriginal peoples; typescripts, including typescript of "An attempt to eat the moon" and dictionaries of Dordenup language; photographs of Aboriginal rock paintings and art; scores (originals and negatives) of Aboriginal songs with English translations.
