Summary Diary of a trip from Fremantle to Cambridge Gulf (1886); correspondence, cuttings, files, illuminated addresses, scrapbooks and other material relating to his personal life as well as his political career and elevation to the peerage. Includes papers relating to the Western Australian exploring expedition through the centre of Australia, from Champion Bay, on the west coast, to the Overland Telegraph Line between Adelaide and Port Darwin, commanded by John Forrest in 1874. It was the first west-to-east expedition through the western centre of Australia.
